Had my HTC One X for just over 2 weeks and was playing angry birds when it froze, removed battery and turned the phone back on. The phone appeared to load fine. Put it to the side and came back to it about an hour later to find it switched off. Holding the power button and nothing happens, doesnt even start loading or anything, tried charging the phone just in case the battery was low but the orange light doesnt appear saying its being charged anymore, so it just appears to be completely unresponsive. Any ideas from anybody?

This seems to be spreading ... not good  Shocked  several users have reported what you experienced and others report having a black screen and the phone is still on. 
Some have "fixed" it by repeatedly removing inserting the battery.
This is most likely due to a software issue.

Yet others have a completely unresponsive phone.
This is most likely due to faulty hardware

Get it back to the store for a replacement.

Are you sure your battery is just not completely dead?  Take it to a retail outlet and swap batteries.
